PRODUCT CARE


Window Units & Door Frames

Often, the most effective care methods for cleaning and extending the lifespan of a window/door frame are really very simple. Using a soft cloth with water and some washing up liquid is the easiest and best way to keep your frames clean.

Please do not use:
  • Glass cleaner on frames
  • Any other cleaning agent
  • Caustic or ammonia-based cleaning agents
  • Scouring powder or other abrasive cleaners
  • Steel wool or scouring pads

Glass

For general cleaning, a soft cloth with water and washing-up liquid will often be sufficient, however where there is more dirt and grime than normal we suggest a commercial window cleaning solution. Please remember to keep the solution away from the frame and wash away any residue with clean water.

Locks and Hinges

It is very easy to forget that locks and hinges need lubricating from time to time and a common reason for their failure is due to lack of maintenance. To help lubricate your locks we would recommend that you try to use white grease (also known as lithium soap), which can be commonly found in most hardware stores. For hinges, the occasional drop of a light machine oil will do the trick.

Tips & Advice – Condensation

Having double glazing installed should help reduce condensation on your windows. If you do experience condensation it is normally down to a ventilation issue. As long as your room is heated normally, providing controlled ventilation will help to clear the affected area.

If you ever experience condensation between the panes of a double glazed unit, then this is normally an indication that the air or gas cavity is no longer completely sealed. If this has occurred, please don’t hesitate to contact us on the helpline number: 0345 155 2999

VPS247 is registered with FENSA, a government approved body who will check that the works we complete meet all the necessary standards and building regulations. When we complete FENSA notifiable work, VPS247 will arrange for your FENSA certificate of compliance to be sent to you for your reassurance. If your product develops a fault due to defective materials or construction within the guarantee period we have stated, we will repair or replace it at no extra cost to you.

General
  • All Repairs and Workmanship – 1 Year

Lock
  • Locks and Lock Repairs – 1 Year

Windows
  • PVCu Frames – 10 years against delamination and discolouration
  • Aluminium Frames – 10 years
  • Timber Frames – 5 years
  • Double Glazed Units – 5 years
  • Hardware on frames (e.g. hinges) – 1 year

Doors
  • Timber Doors – 5 years
  • Aluminium Doors – 10 Years
  • Double Glazed Units – 5 years
  • Composite and PVCu Doors – 10 years (against delamination, discolouration and sealed unit failure due to defective design, manufacture or materials)
  • Hardware on frames (e.g. hinges) – 1 year

Garage Doors

The manufacturer undertakes to repair or replace as there discretion product deemed as warranty, subject to the product being installed correctly, regular servicing being undertaken and normal usage levels.

Claims for Canopy door cable failure are not deemed as warranty as this is generally usage / maintenance of the door and is a consumable item.

No claims for consequential costs and / or dismantling and installation costs will be accepted.

  • Wessex Garage Doors – 2 Years
  • SWS Garage Doors – 5 Years
  • Garador and Hörmann Garage Doors – 10 years (against safe and reliable function).
  • Garador and Hörmann Springs/ Rollers/ Hinges/ Guide Rollers – 5 Years
  • Garador and Hörmann Timber Effect Foil Coated Garage Doors – 5 Years
  • Garador and Hörmann Timber and GRP Garage Doors – 2 Years

Conservatories

  • Ultraframe Ultralite 500 – 10 years
  • White Conservatory Roofs – 10 years
  • Wood-grain Conservatory Roofs – 5 years
  • Powder-Coated Aluminium Roofs – 10 years
  • Roof glass – 5 years


Door Canopies/ Surrounds

  • All Door Canopies and Surrounds – 10 Years

Alarms

  • All Yale Alarms and Accessories – 2 Years

All guarantees are to the benefit of the original purchaser of the product and are non-transferable.
Your statutory rights are not affected.


Exclusions


The guarantee does not cover faults resulting from landslides, flooding, roots or moss, drought, subsidence or settlement. It also does not cover thermal breaks, normal wear and tear, failure to follow the maintenance instructions, accident, misuse or neglect.

The guarantee does not cover scorched PVCu caused by heat reflected from surfaces of window dressings or products damaged by failure to prevent condensation on the outside of the unit

Note – Glass has minor imperfections and shading differences; the standards are outlined by the Glass and Glazing Federation in their Technical section
