The future of the insurance market requires greater connectivity

Calls to rethink how insurance can match the accelerated pace of change in the marketplace have been made today by VPS Evander, in advance of the largest European conference of insurance brokers next week, BIBA 2017.

VPS Evander, the national emergency, security & response specialists, believe a major rethink is required of how the marketplace operates in order to compete effectively.

“We have plenty of first-hand experience of how the marketplace operates, as we attend in excess of 95,000 insurance property claims per annum, working on a 24/7 basis with brokers, insurers and intermediaries” explains Graeme Mutch, VPS Evander’s national account manager. “For example, home emergency policies typically cover emergency temporary repair or make-safe but not the permanent reinstatement, so in the event of an insured peril, the customer is required to make a second phone call to their home insurer to make a claim. Up to half of all our home emergency jobs require a follow on, permanent repair. We’ve collaborated across both sectors to create a streamlined, combined direct customer and insurance initiative for permanent repair on up to 15,000 emergency jobs serviced per annum.”

“This collaborative, connected approach to emergency permanent repair initiative has dramatically streamlined the claims and customer direct process, bridging the gap between the cover of home emergency and home claims.” Says Mr Mutch.

“The BIBA 2017 conference is by-lined ‘Connections’. That’s absolutely spot-on for the insurance market. The better connected all the stakeholders become, the better the service and the ability to compete.” Mr Mutch concludes.

VPS Evander, part of the leading property management specialists, the VPS Group, are 2017 finalists in the Insurance Post’s Claims Innovation, Outsourced Partner category. They have stand C58, opposite the Chartered Insurance Institute, at the BIBA 2017 conference, Manchester Central, on 10th-11th May.
